Pysanka Egg Program Group 2 In-Person
During the period of Lent preceding Pascha, or Easter, Ukrainians write pysanky, or decorate eggs, using ancient symbols. From the deep past, these patterns were thought to imbue the egg with magical powers and ward away evil spirits, and they later took on Christian meanings. During this workshop, participants will make their own pysanka using the traditional wax-resist method. This is a free program for Adults and teens.
Registration is required as space is limited due to supplies. Participants are registering for one class. March 31 or April 7.
Priority will be given to Raritan Public Library card holders that are in good standings. If space is available, non card holders can register one week prior to the event.
This program is presented by the Ukrainian History and Education Center of Somerset, New Jersey.
